Goooaal: Cantor signs extension with NBC

NBCUniversal Telemundo has extended the contract of famed soccer voice Andrés Cantor to remain its lead play-by-play broadcaster for the sport through the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

CANTOR
Cantor, who joined Telemundo in 2000, is widely known for his signature approach to calling goals. With the deal, he will serve as lead broadcaster and play-by-play announcer for NBC Deportes’ soccer productions for Telemundo and NBC Universo, a lineup that in addition to the 2022 World Cup includes the 2016 Rio Olympics, the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. In addition, he will serve as co-host of NBC Deportes’ coverage of the Rio Games, the sixth time he’s served that role in his career.

“I’m very glad that I will be able to share the next number of years with this wonderful game and with a great company where I’ve worked for the last 15 years,” Cantor said.

Cantor was represented by Fluent Media Group’s Raul Mateu during negotiations.
