People: Executive transactions

Baseball
The Atlanta Braves promoted John Coppolella to general manager.

The Boston Red Sox hired Frank Wren as senior vice president of baseball operations. Larry Lucchino has become president and chief executive officer emeritus, and Chief Operating Officer Sam Kennedy took over as club president. The Red Sox promoted Jared Banner to director of player personnel, Brad Pearson to head athletic trainer and Paul Buchheit to assistant athletic trainer.

Basketball
The NBA named retired Gen. Martin E. Dempsey a special adviser to the commissioner and chairman of the newly formed Jr. NBA Leadership Council, effective Jan. 1. Dempsey was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
 
Colleges
California State University, Northridge, named Ashley Davis executive assistant for intercollegiate athletics. Davis was assistant to the associate dean in the College of Continuing and Professional Education at California State University, Long Beach.

Tulane University Athletic Director Rick Dickson announced that he will retire, effective in May.

High Point University hired Kyle Richards as assistant athletic director for compliance. Richards was a compliance coordinator at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The University of Dayton promoted Neil Sullivan to vice president and athletic director.

The University of Massachusetts Lowell promoted Tommy Coyle to assistant director of athletic communications and hired Jon Boswell as assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions.

The University of Nevada hired Brian Barrio as senior associate athletic director for intercollegiate services. Barrio was associate athletic director for administration at Pepperdine University.

Western Michigan University hired Rob Beuerlein as associate director of marketing, communications and engagement. Beuerlein was assistant sports information director at Texas State University.

HARTMAN
Facilities
HOK hired Stefanie Hartman as a design professional. Hartman was an architectural designer for Casco Diversified Corp.

Finance
JPMorgan Chase promoted Frank Nakano to sports and entertainment group head.

Hockey
The American Hockey League’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms named Mike Leopardo creative producer.

Media
CBS Interactive hired Dave Moll as director of new media and client services, and Brad Chase as manager of client services for its sports division. Moll was senior director of business operations for Turner Sports, and Chase was general manager for the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s sports properties.

Fox Sports hired Matt Ketaineck as coordinating producer of “The Herd With Colin Cowherd.” Ketaineck was coordinating producer for ESPN’s “Olbermann.”

The Madison Square Garden Co. named Andrea Greenberg president and chief executive officer and Bret Richter chief financial officer, both for MSG Networks. Greenberg was executive vice president of MSG Media, and Richter was executive vice president of corporate finance and development for Cablevision Systems Corp.

Mandalay Sports Media named Dick Glover chief executive officer. Glover was chief executive officer for Funny Or Die.

One World Sports hired Hayley MacKay as director of production. MacKay was head of production for Perform Media.

RunnerSpace named Paul Swangard chief strategist. Swangard was managing director of the University of Oregon’s Warsaw Sports Marketing Center.

Univision Deportes named Eric Conrad senior vice president of programming and acquisitions and Olek Loewenstein senior vice president of strategy and operations.

Sports Commissions and Tourism Boards
Las Vegas Events hired Maranda Jacobs as corporate marketing coordinator.

Other
New York Road Runners promoted Linda Franken to senior vice president of finance; James Grooms to senior vice president of legal and general counsel; Jim Heim to senior vice president of event development and production and technical director of the TCS New York City Marathon; and Bari Greenfield to vice president of strategy, planning and organization operations. Michael Schnall was hired as vice president of community engagement initiatives.

BUTCHER
Swim Across America named Rob Butcher president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1. Butcher was executive director for U.S. Masters Swimming. He replaces Janel Jorgensen McArdle, who is stepping down to spend more time with her family.

Sportradar hired Nick Stamm as director of marketing and communications. Stamm was director of marketing and communications for Stats LLC.

Teamworks added Marie Christian and Alex King to its account management team.

Awards and Boards
The NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association named David Brunk, Peach Belt Conference commissioner, president; Dell Robinson, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference commissioner, first vice president; Robert Dranoff, East Coast Conference commissioner, second vice president; Steve Murray, Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference commission, past president; and Alan Patterson, Conference Carolina commissioner, secretary and treasurer.
