FS1 plans 'habit-forming' TV

Former ESPN executive Jamie Horowitz is well on his way to bringing ESPN’s polarizing “embrace debate” mantra to Fox Sports. Last week, SportsBusiness Daily broke the story that FS1 canceled its daily studio show “America’s Pregame” in favor of a best-of show from Colin Cowherd.

HOROWITZ
Horowitz’s top deputy, Charlie Dixon, said it was their first step toward remaking the channel’s afternoon lineup from news-based studio shows to more opinion-focused programming.

“When I look at a fairly open slate of programming, the first thing that you need to do is give people habit-forming reasons to come explore the channel,” he said. “Doing what others are doing fairly well is not a really sound strategy. … You have to tinker. You have to work on shows and see what is working on them, see what audience comes and support programming opportunities that are within that audience.”
