CSN Mid-Atlantic plans D.C.-Baltimore merger

The rival towns (and teams) will no longer have separate CSN sites.
As a native Washingtonian, I can reliably report that Nationals fans don’t like the Orioles and Ravens fans can’t stand the Redskins. That’s one of the reasons why Comcast SportsNet set up two websites in 2009 and 2010 — one covering the Capital City and the other covering Charm City.

Starting this week, those two sites are being merged into one, falling under the banner of CSNMidAtlantic.com and its companion app. The move follows CSN’s decision to merge its social media accounts under the CSN Mid-Atlantic brand last year.

RSN executives say the change will make its digital presence more efficient, allowing RSN branding and content to flow more easily across both CSN’s digital and linear platforms. CSN expects that the move also will expose its digital users to more content, keeping them on the site or in the app for longer periods of time.

The new website will have CSN’s live streaming player that streams studio shows and Wizards games.
