The Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame held its induction ceremony Dec. 16 at the New York Hilton Hotel. Former NBA commissioner and 2014 inductee David Stern, former NBC Sports Group chair and hall of famer Dick Ebersol, and hall of famer Howard Katz, COO of NFL Films and SVP of NFL Broadcasting.

Big Ten hockey, hoops headed to Garden

The Big Ten Conference and Madison Square Garden last month announced a partnership that will bring the Big Ten men’s college basketball championship to the Garden in 2018 as well as college hockey and basketball doubleheaders starting next season: Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany; New York Rangers Carl Hagelin and Derek Stepan, both of whom played in the Big Ten; and Joel Fisher, MSG Sports executive vice president.

Tour takes DePaul students to Soldier Field

Twenty-five undergraduate and graduate students visited 14 Chicago sports teams, organizations and agencies as part of a new DePaul University sports management program course. As part of the program, the class visited Soldier Field before the Bears’ Thursday night game against Dallas last month. With the students are Bears VP of sales and marketing Chris Hibbs and marketing coordinator Christine Christopoulos and program director Andy Clark.

Arizona State University alumnus Vada Manager (left) was honored as Architect of the Year at the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy’s inaugural Architects of Change Gold and Silver Gala last month.
