Reebok World Headquarters, Canton, Mass.

Reebok’s role for defining the importance of fitness in everyday life extends to its corporate campus in suburban Boston. The company’s headquarters contains a 37,000-square-foot fitness center for employees to use during the workweek.

Three years ago, Reebok expanded those facilities and built a new CrossFit center after signing a sponsorship with the popular exercise program brand. At the same time, Reebok executives made a bigger push to encourage each employee to work out one hour a day, said Reebok President Matt O’Toole.

Their efforts paid off. Now, more than 850 Reebok employees use the fitness center venues, representing 85 percent of the company’s workforce in Canton. That number is up from 40 percent before Reebok got serious about repositioning its brand in the fitness world, which led to the CrossFit deal.

“Now, it’s almost like an informercial if you walk around our building,” he said. On display are “profiles of colleagues who have gone through a transformation because of fitness.

“There are literally hundreds of them, and you can read their stories. It’s changed the way people work.”
