People: Executive transactions

Baseball
The independent Atlantic League’s York Revolution promoted John Gibson to general manager and vice president of operations, Kaylee Swanson to director of sales, Reed Gunderson to director of client services and Paul Braverman to director of communications and marketing. Nate Sterner was hired to help oversee facilities maintenance, and Scott Parker was named multimedia coordinator.

The Los Angeles Angels named Tim Bogar special assistant to the general manager. Bogar was Texas Rangers interim manager.

The Detroit Tigers named Alan Trammel special assistant to president, chief executive officer and general manager Dave Dombrowski.

The Milwaukee Brewers named Ray Montgomery vice president of amateur scouting and special assistant to the general manager.

The Cleveland Indians promoted Ross Atkins to vice president of player personnel, Carter Hawkins to director of player development, and Paul Gillispie to director of pro scouting.

The Texas Rangers named Michael Young special assistant to the general manager.

The Washington Nationals named Bob Miller vice president and assistant general manager, and promoted David McElwee to vice president of ticket sales, service and operations and Mike Shane to executive director of strategy and analytics.

College
New Mexico State University named Bill Powers assistant athletic director for media relations. Powers was assistant athletic director for external operations at Midwestern State University.

The Big East Conference named Kristin Quinn assistant commissioner for Olympic sports and marketing communications.

Facilities

HENRY
The Madison Square Garden Co. named Scott Henry executive vice president and chief technology officer. Henry was executive vice president and chief information officer for Nielsen Audio.

SMG Canada named Peter Jelinski general manager of the Medicine Hat Regional Event Centre.

Finance
True Capital Management named Justin Bass managing director. Bass was a managing director for the sports and entertainment group at SunTrust Bank.

Golf
The PGA of America named Jeffrey Hintz tournament director of the 2016 Ryder Cup. Hintz was championship director for the 2014 Senior PGA Championship.

Billy Casper Golf promoted Alex Elmore to president.

Soccer
The Houston Dynamo named Matt Jordan vice president and general manager. Jordan was technical director for the Montreal Impact.

The Chicago Fire named former player Logan Pause vice president, effective Dec. 1.

The USL Pro Harrisburg City Islanders named Taylor Pettis operations and business relations manager.

Premier League club Chelsea appointed Christian Purslow as head of global commercial activities. Purslow was Liverpool managing director. Chief Executive Officer Ron Gourlay is leaving the club.

Awards and Boards
The Chicago Sports Commission named Steve Schanwald chair, replacing John Murray.

The Baseball Writers Association of America elected Houston Chronicle writer Jose De Jesus Ortiz president.
