Wrigley Field at 100

Wrigley plans a yearlong celebration

Wrigley Field is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a series of promotions and merchandise rollouts throughout the season. The highlight will be 10 decade-themed homestands complete with historic player uniforms, specialty food offerings, promotional items and entertainment.

Wrigley Field’s 100 Great Moments presented by Budweiser. The Cubs will unveil and pay tribute to those moments and honor former athletes, performers and dignitaries associated with them.

Historic bobblehead giveaways. These never-before-produced bobbleheads will honor key individuals and

events from specific decades.

Throwback uniforms. Players will wear the one from the ballpark’s first tenant, a 1914 Chi-Feds uniform, on the actual 100th birthday game on April 23. The remaining uniforms will be worn on various Throwback Sunday games, and many visiting clubs plan to wear retro uniforms as well.

Retro toys. Throwback Sunday games will also feature retro toy promotional giveaways for children.

Dining through the Decades. Food and beverage offerings will match up with the specific decade being recognized, thanks to the team’s partnership with Levy Restaurants.

Historic guests and game entertainment. Former athletes, relatives, representatives and dignitaries will be honored in special pregame ceremonies, ceremonial first pitches and as guest 7th-inning-stretch conductors. Fans also will be treated to popular music from the homestand’s featured decade.

Commemorative ticket designs. Tickets will feature themed artwork inspired by past Wrigley Field game programs.

WrigleyField100.com. The custom website will highlight Wrigley Field’s history and will include videos and testimonials from Cubs players, alumni, celebrities and fans.

“A Century of Wrigley Field: The Official History of the Friendly Confines.” The hard-bound book features

extensive photography and tributes from former players and other celebrities.

“100 Years of Wrigley Field.” The DVD features historic footage and interviews with former players, celebrity guests and team officials.

Cubs Authentics memorabilia. Cubs Authentics will sell game-used baseballs, bases and jerseys plus other game-used and autographed memorabilia used throughout the 2014 season.
