Carl Mittleman has been named president of Aramark Sports and Entertainment, one of the top four concessionaires in sports.
Mittleman, 38, replaces Marc Bruno, who was promoted to chief operating officer of Aramark’s sports, leisure and corrections group. Both moves come after Chris Hackem, chief operating officer of Aramark’s education group, announced her retirement after 36 years with the company. Brent Franks, whose position Bruno fills, takes over Hackem’s old job.

As president of sports and entertainment, Mittleman will oversee more than 150 venues tied to Aramark food, retail and facility service contracts. This summer, he will relocate to Philadelphia from Denver, where he served as Aramark regional vice president for the past five years.
“The biggest change will be geographically,” Mittleman said. “But if you look at the president’s responsibility, there is more balance on the functional piece, overseeing our [data analytics] program, as well as the retail and facility services accounts. It’s all the components.”
In Denver, Mittleman oversaw the firm’s central region, a vast territory stretching from Colorado to Ohio and from Texas to Saskatchewan. In that role, he was responsible for 11,000 employees, including 400 front-line managers.
Mittleman’s recent accomplishments included helping Aramark win new accounts at Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears, and the Minnesota Vikings’ new stadium under construction in Minneapolis.
In addition, Mittleman supervised high-profile events for Aramark such as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at Reliant Stadium, the 2012 MLB All-Star Game in Kansas City and the 2011 NCAA Final Four in Houston.
Bruno now oversees sports and entertainment, parks and destinations and the correctional facilities business units. Bruno has worked at Aramark since 1993, where he has led catering operations for multiple Olympic Games.
