Arena’s terrace expansion set to open
Honda Center’s $20 million Grand Terrace expansion will open Oct. 10, coinciding with the Anaheim Ducks’ first home game this season, according to an Orange County Register report. The terrace adds 15,000 square feet of indoor and entertainment space at the arena’s main entrance. The ground level will include a 200-seat full-service restaurant.
Bruins’ all-access show debuts
CU, Safeway extend partnership
University of Colorado Athletics agreed to a three-year partnership extension with Safeway, starting with the 2013 football season. Safeway is the exclusive grocery partner of the Colorado Buffaloes, as secured by the school’s athletic multimedia rights partner, Learfield Sports’ Buffalo Sports Properties.
Bills tap Pointstreak for raffle efforts
The Buffalo Bills, the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, and the University at Buffalo are teaming with Pointstreak 5050 to raise charitable funds at Bills home games at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Raffle tickets will be sold until the end of the third quarter for the games, with one fan winning half of the raffle’s net proceeds.
Bills sign Alex and Ani
The Bills agreed to a multiyear partnership with Rhode Island-based lifestyle brand Alex and Ani. The company gets in-stadium signage, online media and additional branding opportunities. Alex and Ani also will be the official jewelry of the Buffalo Jills cheerleaders.
Local coffee brand signs with Broncos
The Denver Broncos signed a deal with locally based Marley Coffee. The coffee distributor gets advertising time on the stadium’s electronic signage during home games this season along with commercial spots during network timeouts.
Suns pack for training camp
The Phoenix Suns will make their return to Flagstaff for the first time since 2004 when they report for training camp at Northern Arizona University on Sept. 30. Phoenix first used Flagstaff as a training camp site in 1986.
Orediggers to build new stadium
The Colorado School of Mines intends to spend as much as $21 million to build a new football stadium. The university, which raised $35.4 million in the 2013 fiscal year, will demolish its existing 90-year-old stadium and build the new structure in its place. Construction will take two years. The Division II Orediggers compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The official event logos for 2014 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks were released by Churchill Downs Racetrack. Both logos were designed by SME for the sixth consecutive year.
Blue Jays set games for Olympic Stadium
The Toronto Blue Jays will bring baseball back to Montreal next season with a pair of preseason games against the New York Mets, according to a Toronto Sun report. The games will be played in March at Olympic Stadium, which has not staged a big league game, or a ball game of any kind since September 2004, according to the report.
Warriors, Kaiser Permanente extend deal
The Golden State Warriors reached a three-year extension with Kaiser Permanente, with the company remaining the team’s presenting sponsor and official health care provider through the 2016-17 season. Assets this coming season will include the debut of TV-visible pole-pad signage.

MLS team assists with college prep school
The Philadelphia Union and YSC Sports are launching the YSC Academy, a private school for eighth- through 12th-grade elite soccer players. The college preparatory school is adjacent to the YSC Sports soccer complex in suburban Wayne, Pa. The 32 students in its inaugural class are all part of the Union’s amateur youth soccer development programs.
Flyers affiliate with Road Warriors
The Philadelphia Flyers reached an affiliation agreement with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL for the 2013-14 season. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the agreement, the Flyers will be able to assign players to the Greenville, S.C., team who are under contract either to the Flyers or their AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms.
Seahawks, Sounders flying Delta
Delta signed on as the new official airline of the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders. The multiyear deal gives Delta naming rights to the 7,500-seat club level at CenturyLink Field, which will now be known as the Delta Sky360 Club, along with video board and other game-day enhancements.

University partners with Rams
Lindenwood University’s School of Business and Entrepreneurship has become the official sports management program of the St. Louis Rams. Rams executives, including Chief Operating Officer Kevin Demoff, will complement Lindenwood’s curriculum with lectures, panels and speaking engagements. Lindenwood’s sport management program was established in 2001.

Barca adds to Middle East partners
FC Barcelona reached a three-year partnership with United Arab Bank, according to a Gulf News report. The agreement follows similar FC Barcelona-Middle East deals with telecom firm Etisalat and Qatar Airways. United Arab Bank will create a range of Barca-themed products and offers, starting with a prize drawing for 14 winners to watch the team play at Camp Nou stadium.

1860 Munich signs telecom deal
Second Bundesliga club 1860 Munich signed a sponsorship deal with telecommunications company Fonic for the 2013-14 season. Fonic, which is a subsidiary of telecommunications company Telefonica Deutschland, will have a presence at the Allianz Arena and will provide 1860 fans with targeted offers. The deal was brokered by Infront Sports & Media.
AS Roma partners with Adecco
Italian Serie A club AS Roma agreed to a partnership with multinational human resources consulting company Adecco, according to a Soccerex report. Adecco becomes an official supplier of the club starting with the 2013-14 season.
Olympic torch headed for space
The Olympic torch will go for its first spacewalk Nov. 9, according to an R-Sport report. As part of the torch relay for the Sochi Olympics, an unlit torch will be carried to the International Space Station on Nov. 7 and will venture into space two days later before heading back to Earth on a return flight. After the flame arrives in Russia from Greece in October, it begins its 65,000-kilometer relay, not including the space leg, in Moscow.
