Bayhawks sign season partners

The Chesapeake Bayhawks partnered with Zachary’s Jewelers and Righttime Medical Care for the 2012 Major League Lacrosse season. In addition to community initiatives and being the official jeweler of the team, Zachary’s will be sponsoring the Unsung Hero of the Game, honoring a player at each home game. Righttime Medical will be the official urgent care of the team.

ATLANTA
Braves plan field day activities

The Braves Family Field Day presented by Publix Super Markets takes place June 16. Fans can learn pitching, hitting and fielding techniques from Braves players and coaches at Turner Field. The day also includes a panel discussion with players, lunch, a ballpark tour and tickets to that evening’s game against the Baltimore Orioles. A family package is $200, individuals $60.

BOSTON
Pats punter ready for ‘ZoliOke’

New England Patriots punter Zoltan Mesko is set to host the first ZoliOke fundraiser, a celebrity karaoke night on Saturday. Taking place at Royale in Boston, ZoliOke is a benefit for Boston Children’s Hospital with net proceeds including raffle and live auction contributions being donated to the hospital.

Arbella foundation helping Jimmy Fund
Arbella Insurance Foundation will be a partner for the 11th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon set for Aug. 21-22 at Fenway Park. The two-day event has become one of the biggest fundraisers of the Jimmy Fund’s year. Additionally, Arbella Insurance Foundation will donate $50 for every extra base hit by Red Sox batters, up to $50,000.

PGA Tour event offers student rate
For the first time in the Deutsche Bank Championship’s 10-year history, college students can purchase discounted grounds tickets. Students with a valid college ID can purchase up to two grounds tickets for $25 per ticket ($30 off the regular price) for the Labor Day weekend tournament at TPC Boston.

CHICAGO
Bears draft pick gives marathon assist

Beginning with the Allstate Life Insurance Chicago 13.1 Marathon on Saturday, runners, spectators and fans can donate used athletic shoes to benefit homeless shelters and missions in race markets. Allstate teamed up with nonprofit organization Give Your Sole and Chicago Bears 2012 first-round draft pick Shea McClellin to interact with runners and encourage donations.

CLEVELAND
Indians welcome ‘Dads and Grads’

The Cleveland Indians will play host to Dads and Grads Day on Sunday. Fans will have the opportunity to play catch on the field, enjoy a ballpark buffet, take a swing in the batting cages, submit a special greeting to be played on the scoreboard, and watch the Indians vs. St. Louis Cardinals game on the big screen. The event price is $50 for adults and $25 for kids ages 3-11.

The old, worn-out pavement was stripped away and new asphalt is making the turn.

HERSHEY, PA.
Bears extend Caps affiliation

The Hershey Bears extended their affiliation agreement with the Washington Capitals. The affiliation between the Bears and Capitals began in 2005-06 after a nine-season partnership with the Colorado Avalanche, which also included dual affiliations with the Florida Panthers in 2001-02 and the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2003-04.

Fins Weekend raises $600K

The Miami Dolphins Foundation hosted its largest annual event, Fins Weekend, throughout South Florida last month. Players, alumni, cheerleaders and celebrities spent three days golfing and fishing and raised more than $600,000 for the foundation. Fins

Weekend, in its 16th year, has become the foundation’s signature event.

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO
Steelheads reel in a new logo

The newly named Mississauga Steelheads launched their logo for the 2012-13 season. The logo depicts a Steelhead trout with its traditional markings and will include a small maple leaf within the name. The logo will act as the team’s primary jersey logo during the Ontario Hockey League season.

NEW YORK
Calvin Klein partners with arena

Calvin Klein formed a marketing alliance with Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets that will include the presenting sponsorship for both the Calvin Klein Courtside Club and the Calvin Klein VIP Entrance. Calvin Klein becomes the seventh founding partner for the arena. The sponsorship rights include branding on courtside seats, television-visible courtside and baseline signage.

PHOENIX
City awarded USA Volleyball finals

USA Volleyball awarded the 2014 USA Volleyball Open National Championships to Phoenix. The championship is projected to occupy more than 12,000 room nights at area hotels. USA Volleyball will showcase its event for the 85th year from May 23-28, 2014, at the Phoenix Convention Center.

SANTA CRUZ, CALIF.
Warriors moving D-League team

The Santa Cruz City Council voted unanimously to finalize a deal with the Golden State Warriors to move their D-League affiliate from North Dakota to Santa Cruz, according to a Santa Cruz Sentinel report. The Warriors will construct the D-League Wizards’ venue and operate it in the first year, according to the report. The budget for the project is $4 million.

SEATTLE
Storm takes pride in new campaign

The Seattle Storm entered the new season with an ad campaign focused on local pride, designed by ad agency Wunderman. The campaign, which uses bold imagery of both players and the city, will include print, television and outdoor using the message “Pure Seattle. Be Part of It.”

SONOMA, CALIF.
Track seeks new title partner

The raceway’s 10-year sponsorship with Infineon Technologies expired last week and the company decided not to renew the agreement. The facility did not convert to a new formal name, but will instead use the regional designation of “Sonoma” while actively pursuing a new partner to take over naming rights.

TAMPA-ST. PETERSBURG
Rays, Helios partner for scholarships

The Rays Baseball Foundation and Helios Education Foundation are partnering to provide $1 million in college scholarships for students participating in Take Stock in Children in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Sarasota, Manatee and Pasco counties. Each time a Tampa Bay Rays player hits a double in a regular-season game, Helios will donate $600 toward the initiative and the Rays Baseball Foundation will match that gift.
