The Chicago Cubs named Joe Bohringer director of pro scouting. Bohringer was a scout with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Seattle Mariners hired Jack Howell as minor-league field coordinator. Howell spent the past season as the minor-league hitting coordinator for the Florida Marlins.

Basketball
The National Basketball Retired Players Association named Paul Corliss senior director of communications and special projects. Corliss was director of communications for Phoenix International Raceway.

The WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury brought back former president and general manager Ann Meyers Drysdale to be vice president, and coach Corey Gaines will add the title of general manager.

Colleges
The University of Nevada named Mike Samuels associate athletic director for marketing. He was associate athletic director for external affairs at St. Mary’s College.

Golf
The PGA Tour hired Luis Goicouria as vice president of new media business development and operations. Goicouria was a digital media executive with MTV Networks.

Fox Sports Media Group promoted David Safran to senior vice president of Fox Cable Sports ad sales and Julie Sharenow to director of ad sales for Speed.

Hulman & Co. and Indianapolis Motor Speedway promoted Michael Redlick to senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer for IMS; Ronald Galle to vice president and chief financial officer for Hulman & Co. and IMS; J. Douglas Boles to vice president of communications for Hulman & Co. and IMS; Gretchen Snelling to vice president chief legal counsel for Hulman & Co. and its subsidiaries; and Marla Flowers to director of operations for Hulman & Co.
