Leagues and Governing Bodies

League Notes: AFL Floating Alternative Draft Models

The Australian Football League "floated alternative models for the draft that would see the non-finalists given significantly better picks than the top eight teams." The AFL showed clubs two different systems in which the bottom 10 sides would be given "the lion's share of draft picks in the first 28 selections." Both models would be "annual, with no qualifications, and would redress the issue of lower teams only having one pick in the top 18-20 selections" (THE AGE, 8/23).

The Committee of Administrators "withdrew the powers" of acting BCCI President C.K. Khanna, acting Secretary Amitabh Chaudhury and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry. The CoA "handed the majority of the powers" to the BBCI's CEO and CFO until a "fresh election is conducted" and new members take control. The CoA also informed the office bearers that all the committees and sub-committees of the BCCI have been "abolished" (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 8/23).
