Wolves Terminate Partnership With The Money Shop

Wolves recently terminated the three-year deal with The Money Shop, which was signed in '16.GETTY IMAGES

Wolverhampton Wanderers, which recently secured promotion to the Premier League for the '18-19 season, paid off "controversial" shirt sponsor The Money Shop, paving the way for a "multi-million pound new deal," according to Tim Spiers of the EXPRESS & STAR. The club "angered supporters" when it signed a three-year contract with the payday loan firm in '16. The Money Shop's name has been emblazoned on the club's shirts for the past two seasons and was "due to form part of next season’s home and away kits." The club "has ended the contentious deal a year early with what is likely to be a substantial pay-off." Club owner Fosun Int'l "will now look to attract a big-money sponsor on a lucrative contract" as Wolves "prepare for Premier League football and the commercial exposure that comes with it" (EXPRESS & STAR, 5/5).
