Pro14 Side Scarlets Stadium Falls Short Of Minimum Capacity For Champions Cup Match

Pro14 side Scarlets "may have to install temporary seating" at its ground for the Champions Cup quarterfinal against La Rochelle -- "or give up home advantage," according to Delme Parfitt of WALES ONLINE. Tournament rules stipulate that venues for the knockout stages "must offer a minimum 15,000 capacity." Parc y Scarlets "falls just shy of that" at 14,870, so the region will "have to get the go-ahead to provide extra room." The only other option would be to "explore switching the game to Liberty Stadium." That would generate extra revenue, but "having performed so heroically" to reach the last eight of the European competition for the first time since '07, the Scarlets "would be loathe to play anywhere other than their own back yard" (WALES ONLINE, 1/21).
