League Notes: Ciudadanos Registers Proposal Asking For Spanish Esports Regulation

Spanish political party Ciudadanos (Citizens Party) registered a non-legislative proposal in Congress, "asking for the regulation of esports in the country." The Catalonia-based party "brought France's esports legislation as an example" and asked for a legal framework to be built around teams, companies and players to establish the scene as an "entity differentiated from betting or internet gambling" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 1/9).

Sri Lanka Cricket said on Tuesday that the sport's global governing body "found no evidence of wrongdoing against it following allegations of match-fixing and other forms of corruption." The board said that the Int'l Cricket Council "failed to uncover evidence of graft during an investigation into explosive accusations" leveled by former Sri Lankan players (AFP, 1/9).
