Bundesliga Side Hertha BSC To Form FIFA Esports Academy

Bundesliga side Hertha BSC partnered with Stark eSports agency to "form the country's first esports academy," according to Angelos Anastasopoulos of THE ESPORTS OBSERVER. The academy will focus solely on FIFA and will try to "find and develop the best FIFA talents in the region." Hertha "follows the trend" of Bundesliga clubs to field esports players, including Bayer Leverkusen, VfL Wolfsburg and Schalke 04. The latter has "even gone the extra step." In addition to its FIFA team, Schalke 04 owns a League of Legends squad, which will compete in the European League Championship Series. In contrast to the other German clubs in esports, Hertha "opted to form a developing academy" instead of creating a team (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 12/21).
