ManU Fans To Complain To UEFA Over Champions League Ticket Prices At Sevilla

Outraged ManU fans are "ready to complain" to UEFA over ticketing prices for their Champions League Round of 16 tie against Sevilla, with the Spanish club "charging more than double" what Liverpool fans paid during the group stages, according to Jack Austin of the London INDEPENDENT. Traveling supporters have to pay "as much as" £133 ($178) for a ticket for January’s last-16 tie in Spain, compared to the £54 ($72) Liverpool fans paid in November. ManU confirmed it received an allocation of 2,650 tickets for the game at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Feb. 21, with the cheapest seats available for £89 ($119) (INDEPENDENT, 12/20). In London, Mike Keegan reported some ManU fans claimed that they had "paid less for a flight to Seville than what they are now faced with handing over for a ticket" for the match. Others called on club officials to "intervene" and send supporters a "helping hand." Manchester United Supporters Trust CEO Duncan Drasdo labeled the prices "exorbitant" (DAILY MAIL, 12/19). ESPN.com's Rob Dawson reported a Sevilla source said that the prices had not been increased due to ManU's involvement and that the home fans "would be charged the same amount" for the match, just as they had for the Liverpool games (ESPN.com, 12/20).
