Olympic Notes: Air Canada Renews Deal With Canadian Olympic Committee

Air Canada renewed its sponsorship as the official airline of the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Paralympic Committee. The four-year agreement extends through the Tokyo 2020 Games (Team Canada). 

Giorgio Armani "strengthened its partnership" with the Italian National Olympics Committee (CONI), unveiling the EA7 Emporio Armani collection created for the 2018 Italian Olympic and Paralympic teams. Armani first sponsored Italy's team at the London 2012 Games (WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY, 12/18).

Three-time world champion speed skater Denis Yuskov was "cleared of doping" by the IOC while two-time Olympic champion bobsledder Alexey Voevoda was disqualified from Sochi 2014 and "barred from all future editions of the Olympic Games." It means 32 Russian athletes have been "retrospectively disqualified from Sochi 2014 for their involvement in the doping scandal" (INSIDE THE GAMES, 12/18).

South Korea President Moon Jae-in said Tuesday that the government is "conducting talks with Winter Olympic authorities for North Korea’s participation in the upcoming PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games." Moon said, "We are working with the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee for North Korea's participation. They are both persistently recommending the North's participation, and believe that it is possible" (KOREA HERALD, 12/19).
