Football Notes: Atlético Madrid Reported Barcelona For Approach To Griezmann

Atlético Madrid reported Barcelona to FIFA for making an illegal approach for French striker Antoine Griezmann. Griezmann, who signed a contract with Atlético in the summer lasting until '21 to "ward off interest" from ManU, has been the "subject of increased speculation over recent days" after a Barça exec hinted that it was "possible" club President Josep Maria Bartomeu held talks with the 26-year-old’s family (London GUARDIAN, 12/19).

Barcelona Institutional Relations Dir Guillermo Amor said that the club "will not be giving a guard of honour to Club World Cup winners Real Madrid before Saturday's La Liga Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu." Two lines of opposition players "welcoming newly crowned champions onto the pitch is a custom in Spanish football" (ESPN.com, 12/18).
