Franchise Notes: Arab Group Expresses Interest In AC Milan Investment

An Arab group reportedly "expressed an interest in purchasing" Serie A side AC Milan from Owner Li Yonghong. AC Milan is reportedly close to restructuring its €303M ($359.2M) loan with U.S. hedge fund Elliott Management, which would see its repayment spread over several years and let the club plan for the future with "more peace of mind." More investment "could arrive from the Arab region, although it is not clear at this stage whether it intends to support Li in his running of the Diavolo or buy out the Chinese's majority stake in the club" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 12/4).

League One side Peterborough United Owner Darragh MacAnthony offered free tickets to fans who went to Sunday's 1-1 FA Cup second-round draw at National League side Woking. MacAnthony said that he will give the 654 fans who traveled to Surrey "free entry to the replay" (BBC, 12/4).

Süper Lig club Gençlerbirliği coach Ümit Özat has "once again found himself in hot water for his remarks," saying that he would never speak badly of a former club "even if it were a Jewish team." He made the remarks in a postgame press conference after a 4-0 victory against Sivasspor on Sunday. Gençlerbirliği fans, among others, took to social media after the remarks to "blast Özat for apparent racism" (HURRIYET DAILY NEWS, 12/4).
