Football Notes: Sussex Police Call Brighton-Crystal Palace Match 'Return To The Dark Days'

Disorder caused by fans around EPL side Brighton's match against Crystal Palace has been described as a "return to the dark days of football" by Sussex police. Chief Inspector Simon Nelson, who led the policing operation for the fixture, described how "groups of masked people" sought confrontation and supporters tried to gain entry to the Amex Stadium with "pyrotechnics, knives and knuckledusters" (PA, 11/29).

The Gambia Football Federation avoided a FIFA ban after Gambia National Sports Council Chair Bori Darboe reinstated the GFF's exec committee following "an intervention by the country's president," Adama Barrow. The NSC had demanded the GFF exec "remain suspended while it investigated accusations of fraud," which the federation denied (BBC, 11/29).
