RFU To Complain To NFL Over Condition Of Twickenham Pitch After Games

The Rugby Football Union "will complain to the NFL after the Twickenham turf was scarred by pitch markings used for two recent American football matches," according to Alex Lowe of the LONDON TIMES. The NFL reportedly used a different type of paint for this year's fixtures that RFU Head Groundsman Keith Kent was "unable to remove before England's game against Argentina on Saturday." The FA had the same problem for the England vs. Germany fixture last week after Wembley hosted two American football matches. The paint "stained the soil at Twickenham, rather than just the grass." There were no complaints from England or Argentina because it "did not affect the quality of the surface, nor were the markings visible from ground level." But the pitch looked "scruffy" on TV, which "concerned the RFU" (LONDON TIMES, 11/14).
