Facility Notes: SRU Offers Murrayfield As Host Stadium For Scottish FA

The Scottish Rugby Union insisted "Murrayfield's doors are open to become the new home of Scottish football." SRU COO Dominic McKay "launched a weekend charm offensive" in rugby's bid to lure the Scottish FA to the capital by inviting the media to a behind-the-scenes experience ahead of its autumn test against Samoa on Saturday. Murrayfield's 67,000-capacity, "superior travel links and modern stadium facilities are being used to try to tempt football's biggest games to Edinburgh." The SFA's lease for the Glasgow ground expires after hosting part of Euro 2020 (Scotland DAILY RECORD, 11/13).

The new Perth Stadium's "golden tickets" were "snapped up in just two hours." The "prestigious" Bankwest Club tickets, which went on sale Monday for A$30,000 ($22,900) each over a five-year commitment, are valid for "just about every event held at Optus Stadium -- including sport and concerts." Considered the "best seats in the new stadium," the 1,385 tickets were "snapped up by a mix of individuals and corporates -- some in large groups of more than 10 seats" (THE WEST AUSTRALIAN, 11/13).

Russian authorities said Monday that they would "improve Luzhniki stadium before next year's World Cup" after fans at the Russia vs. Argentina friendly "complained it took two hours to walk to the nearest metro station after jams at exits." Spectators said that after the final whistle on Saturday, they were "forced to stay in the stands for 30 minutes in the stadium that will host next year's final." The "bottlenecks were caused by ongoing works at the station," Moscow Security Department Head Vladimir Chernikov said (AFP, 11/13).
