Franchise Notes: Red Bull F1 Exec Affirms Relationship Between Toro Rosso, Renault

Red Bull Formula 1 "moved to defuse a toxic row" between its junior team, Toro Rosso, and engine supplier Renault. Toro Rosso implied Renault "might be sabotaging" its engines, "which have suffered a series of failures." Red Bull Dir Helmut Marko said in a statement: "Over the last 10 years, many successful, we have been through every emotion with our current engine supplier. As usual at the end of another long season, emotions are running high but it is a valued relationship and will remain so" (BBC, 11/11).

League Championship side Hull City Vice-Chair Ehab Allam "asked fans to stop protesting against his family's ownership of the club." Some fans threw balls onto the pitch in last month's home defeat by Nottingham Forest after a protest march before kickoff. Many supporters are "unhappy" with the way the club is being run by Ehab and his father, Assem. Ehab reiterated that they are "keen to sell," but until they do, they are asking for an "amnesty" from fans (BBC, 11/10).

The family of Nathan McSeveney is suing Scottish Premiership side Celtic after he fell to his death at an int'l match held at the club's ground. The 20-year-old fell in a stairwell at Celtic Park and died from his injuries. The club does not "accept liability for the accident" and believes Celtic Park to be a "very safe environment" (SCOTSMAN, 11/12).
