Franchise Notes: Fulham Exec Calls Police After Being Dismissed By Club

Police officers were called to League Championship side Fulham's training ground on Monday at the request of Assistant Dir of Football Operations Craig Kline, who "left after a series of clashes with key figures." Fulham officials were "stunned to learn" that the police had been called by Kline, who is "understood to have had a list of grievances against the club." Kline's call to the police followed a meeting between him and club Owner Shahid Khan (London TELEGRAPH, 11/1).

Naples Police Chief Antonio De Iesu "condemned" a group of Serie A side Napoli ultras who attacked Man City fans in a pizzeria on Tuesday. Three people -- including the owner of the pizzeria, who tried to defend the English fans -- were injured in the attack. Iesu said, "It's absurd to imagine such an aggressive act and we will do all we possibly can to identify the attackers because this incident cannot remain unpunished." Chelsea fans were "subject to a similar attack in a pub in Rome on Monday" (ESPN.com, 11/2).
