In February, Super League side Wakefield Trinity Chair Michael Carter "served notice" that the club intended to leave its Belle Vue ground at the end of '17, according to Jeremy Cross of the DAILY STAR. There has been "no evidence to suggest the notice has been rescinded." Belle Vue Owner Manni Hussain, chair of 88m Group, contacted the club asking it to "clarify" what its plan is ahead of next year. The news comes after it emerged that "ambitious" £10M ($13M) plans to build a new stadium on the current site "stalled" after Trinity execs rejected the rental demands of Wakefield Council, which intended to lease the new ground to the club. Hussain: "I have asked the club to clarify their intentions as I am aware that they are selling tickets to fans for games at Belle Vue beyond the date the club have indicated they wish to leave the ground. My greatest concern is for the fans, as the club have put no agreement in place and fans are paying out their hard-earned money for games that we cannot facilitate at Belle Vue -- unless the club make these necessary arrangements." Meanwhile, the Council "vowed to press on with plans to build a new stadium" at Belle Vue and Deputy Leader Denise Jeffrey said, "I urge the club owners to put the fans first and sort out their playing arrangements as soon as possible, as well as reconsidering their unworkable demands for the new community stadium" (DAILY STAR, 11/2).
