RSE Ventures Could Get Involved If Miami Lands A Formula 1 Race

While Formula 1 has not identified the promoter of a possible street race in Miami, there are signs that NFL Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross' RSE Ventures could get involved if the city lands the race. F1 has said that it is considering a second U.S. race in a handful of destination cities including Miami, N.Y. and Las Vegas, but talk of a Miami race has heated up in recent weeks, in part because of an ad run by Tallahassee-based conservative group Better Florida Alliance in an edition of the Miami Herald this month that called for residents to oppose a race there. Sources close to the matter said that RSE Ventures may get involved in the effort, in part because the company tried to buy F1 last year and has thus become intimately familiar with the sport. The possibility that RSE will get involved was furthered by a post written last week in Florida politics blog The Capitolist, which stated "Rumors are swirling that Miami Dolphins owner and real estate tycoon Stephen M. Ross wants to bring a big race to Miami." Interestingly, the author of the post, Brian Burgess, has also been cited as a spokesperson for the Better Florida Alliance group that ran the ad against the race. RSE Ventures and F1 did not comment on the possible Miami race by presstime.
