Event Notes: Chelsea Rules Out Hosting Boxing Match At Stamford Bridge

Chelsea reportedly ruled out the possibility of hosting a fight between George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr. at Stamford Bridge in January. Groves, a lifelong Chelsea fan, has reportedly "long harboured a desire" to fight at Chelsea's home. Stamford Bridge will be vacant on Jan. 20, but sources said that the club has "not been formally approached about hosting the fight and would not consider doing so during the season" (ESPN.com, 10/10).

British Swimming "has withdrawn from the rearranged Para-swimming World Championships in Mexico, citing safety concerns among other factors." The IPC "was forced to move the event after an earthquake killed more than 200 people." Originally scheduled for Sept. 30-Oct. 6, the championships will now be from Nov. 27-Dec. 7 (BBC, 10/10).
