Scottish Premiership Side Aberdeen's Bid For New Stadium Suffers Another Blow

Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen’s new stadium bid "suffered another huge blow" after the club withdrew its application for planning permission, according to Michael Gannon of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. The proposed development at Kingsford on the outskirts of town "was due to go to a council vote on Wednesday." But the club "pulled the plug as more time is needed for further discussions" with planners. Aberdeen was "sweating on next week's vote but the bid has been taken off the table" and has now been deferred until the club can "iron out some of the problems." Club Chair Stewart Milne said, "This is a once in a generation project with major implications for the club, the city and the wider region. It is also an application with a degree of legal and planning complexity that needs to be carefully considered. We have therefore decided to request that our application be deferred to a future meeting of the full council" (DAILY RECORD, 10/5).
