Valencia Announces It Will Look To Restart Work On New Mestalla Stadium

Valencia announced in a statement that it is going to begin "taking the bureaucratic steps with the Valencia City Council to restart work on a new stadium and meet the terms stipulated in the Territorial Strategic Agreement (ATE)," according to Conrado Valle of AS. That agreement "indicates that between '21 and '23, the current Mestalla must be demolished, with Valencia playing at its new stadium at this time." Construction work on the new stadium "has been paralyzed" since '09. The ATE calls for the new stadium to be completed before May '21, "giving a period of two years to demolish the old Mestalla" (AS, 10/3).
