Local Hospitality Brand Hisco Loses $2.4M Perth Stadium Contract

A Perth hospitality company "lost out to a French-owned business" in pursuit of a A$3M ($2.4M) Perth Stadium contract, according to Gary Adshead of THE WEST AUSTRALIAN. Hisco has supplied crockery, cutlery and other kitchenware for catering at Subiaco Oval for more than a decade and "is the second WA firm left disappointed by the tender process." Last week, local audio and visual production business Lloyd Events "came second to an Adelaide company that won a five-year stadium deal." The latest contract winner "has its head office in Queensland and is a subsidiary to a French multinational company." Western Australia Shadow Small Business Minister Libby Mettam said that "inconsistencies were emerging with the Government’s support for local industry and the awarding of new stadium contracts." But a spokesperson for WA Premier Mark McGowan said that the contracts "were decided by stadium operator VenuesLive." VenuesLive CEO Mike McKenna said that contracts worth more than A$150M ($117.4M) would be awarded for the first five years of the stadium, "including last week's beer and cider deal that went to Palmyra-based company Gage Roads" (THE WEST AUSTRALIAN, 10/1).
