West Ham United Ladies will bid for a license to play in next season's restructured Women's Super League. Plans have been approved for the top tier of women's football to become a full-time league from '18-19 with eight to 14 teams in the division. West Ham Ladies currently play in the third-tier Women's Premier League Southern Division (BBC, 9/28).
Following an investigation, Spain's tax authorities reportedly fined Real Madrid €6.5M ($7.7M) for "payments to intermediaries." Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez has also reportedly "been ordered to pay an additional" €1M ($1.2M) "in relation to other ongoing investigations" (SPORT, 9/27).
Chelsea fans are the supporters "most likely to have voted Leave in the EU referendum," according to the results of a new study that surveyed followers of Premier League clubs. Sixty-two percent of Chelsea fans supported the campaign to withdraw Britain from the EU, with 57% of Tottenham and Everton fans "also Leavers" (London TELEGRAPH, 9/28).
The draw for Euro 2020 will be held in Dublin on December 2, 2018. Each of the 13 host cities for the tournament were invited to bid for the draw, which will be attended by 650 guests, more than 350 media representatives and 70 broadcasters, and will be screened to an audience of 140 million around the world (IRISH INDEPENDENT, 9/28).
FIFA confirmed it was asked by the FA to "rubber stamp" Adrien Silva's £22M ($29.6M) transfer to Premier League side Leicester City. The midfielder has been "in limbo" after the club missed the transfer deadline by 14 seconds when trying to sign him from Portuguese side Sporting last month (PA, 9/28).
The island of Jersey's application to join UEFA as a member "must be put to the full congress" of European football's 55 member federations. The Court of Arbitration for Sport said that its judging panel gave a "partial win" to the Jersey FA, which appealed against its '15 application being rejected by UEFA's exec committee. However, the judges noted their belief that "on the basis of the evidence provided," Jersey does not fulfill UEFA's membership rules (AP, 9/28).
