Irish Tourism Authority In Talks To Bring Formula E Race To Dublin

Ireland "may be next in line as the host country for Formula E," according to Michael Cogley of the LONDON TIMES. Tourism authority Fáilte Ireland has been in contact with representatives of the sport "with a view to bringing the races to the streets of the capital." Dublin City Council was briefed on the matter in January and is now awaiting a manual for host cities. Formula E was conceived in '12, with the first race held in Beijing in '14. The sport "has already attracted some of racing's biggest brands," including Audi, Jaguar and Renault. Irish politician Noel Rock said that the government "should back a bid for Dublin to become a host city." Rock: "Formula E is designed for shorter courses on temporary street circuits. I believe Dublin would perfectly fit the bill for such a race and it would make for exciting viewing" (LONDON TIMES, 9/27).
