Atlético Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano To Host 2019 Champions League Final

Atlético Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano was chosen by UEFA to host the 2019 Champions League final, according to ESPN.com. The new stadium opened on Saturday for Atlético's 1-0 win over Málaga. Wanda Metropolitano won the right to host the game over the Olympic Stadium in Baku, which will instead host the 2019 Europa League final, while Turkish side Beşiktaş' Vodafone Park will stage the 2019 UEFA Super Cup. The decisions were taken at Wednesday's UEFA Exec Committee meeting in Nyon, Switzerland. Atlético said in a statement, "It will be the first big international final held at our stadium. ... Atletico Madrid are proud that UEFA trusts in our facilities for the biggest game in the Champions League." Kiev, Ukraine, will stage the '18 Champions League final, which will take place on May 26 at the NSK Olimpiyskiy Stadium (ESPN.com, 9/20).
