Event Notes: NBA Holds Sport Business Summit In Buenos Aires

The NBA held its first Sport Business Summit on Wednesday and Thursday at the Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The invite-only event brought together leaders from business, entertainment, sports, technology and basketball development to share and discuss innovative proposals about the future of the basketball industry (NBA).

Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s win over Conor McGregor "failed to set a record for ticket revenue at a boxing bout." The bout was "expected to better ticket sales" of $72.2M when the American beat Manny Pacquiao in '15. But figures showed more than 7,000 seats were empty at T-Mobile Arena, generating $55.4M, "the second-highest boxing gate in history." PPV TV sales will be finalized "in the coming days" (BBC, 9/6).
