With Ottis Gibson having decided to step down as England national cricket team bowling coach to take over as the head coach of South Africa, the England & Wales Cricket Board has "taken a traditional approach to finding his replacement." The ECB posted a job advert on its website to "attract applicants for the position." The job summary says, "The role is highly likely to involve work during unsociable hours, weekends and school holidays, and will require extended periods away from home on overseas camps and tours" (London DAILY MAIL, 8/31).

Former Snowsport Scotland President Bill Gray resigned in May and recently revealed that his decision was "prompted by concerns about the future" of the organization, which relies on £325,000 ($420,257) of public funding. He said that a "determination to recruit external board members with little knowledge of skiing was causing turmoil and hurting Scotland’s chances of producing Olympic champions." Gray: "Snowsport Scotland is becoming an award scheme for sports bureaucrats who don't produce anything" (LONDON TIMES, 8/31).
