League Notes: Table Tennis England Secures £9M In Funding

Table Tennis England secured £9M ($11.7M) in funding "after voting to back reforms." The body had previously rejected the changes, "freezing the contribution made to the game by Sport England." Changes, including the way board members are appointed, are "needed to ensure its governance meets UK Sport and Sport England rules" (BBC, 8/12).

NSW jockeys will earn a riding fee "on par with their Victorian counterparts" after the Racing NSW board "rubber-stamped a pay rise." Racing NSW "gave the green light over the weekend to lift the standard riding fee" to A$200 ($157.12) -- up from A$187 ($146.91). The fee is not inclusive of 9.5% superannuation, which is "paid separately into a jockey's fund of choice" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 8/14).

Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced he will "soon set up his coaching academy in Dubai." Pacific Sports Club will "launch its operations in the UAE." Dhoni will be in Dubai next month after the Sri Lanka series to "kick off the academy." PSC will "soon announce details of its sports camps and other activities" (GULF NEWS, 8/14).
