Sydney Roosters Launch Legal Action Against Ex-Sponsor Infinity Group Australia

National Rugby League side Sydney Roosters "launched legal action against a sponsor that withdrew its backing in the wake of this year's cocaine scandal," leading to fan favorite Shaun Kenny-Dowall "being shown the door" from the club, according to Adam Pengilly of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. The club is "headed to the courts" with Infinity Group Australia. Infinity also notified NRL side Cronulla Sharks that it would discontinue its back-of-jersey sponsorship after former Sharks Chair Damian Keogh "stood down over cocaine possession charges." The Roosters said in a statement, "As the matter is before the court, we are unable to provide a comment." The Sharks will not "follow the Roosters' lead in pursuing legal action against Infinity, having come to an amicable split with the investment company." Cronulla "already inked a back-of-jersey deal" with high-end audiovisual brand Bang & Olufsen to replace Infinity (SMH, 8/9).
