Crystal Palace Chair Dismisses Claims Of £200M Takeover By Consortium

Premier League side Crystal Palace Chair Steve Parish "dismissed claims" the club agreed to a deal with a consortium led by former Arsenal player Tony Adams to sell the club for £200M ($260M), according to Vaishali Bhardwaj of the London EVENING STANDARD. A report on Tuesday claimed that the consortium, headed by Adams and backed by European investors, "struck an agreement" to buy Palace for £200M. Adams and former Chelsea exec Paul Smith reportedly previously held talks with Aston Villa and Sunderland "about a potential takeover, but had now turned their attentions to Palace." However, writing on his official Twitter account on Tuesday morning, Parish said, "This story is not true, there are no deals in place or discussions to sell the club. I shook his hand ... once at an Arsenal game for 10 seconds, other than that I've never met him" (EVENING STANDARD, 8/8).
