The National Rugby League is the "last man standing" in Australian sport’s pay disputes. The NRL advised clubs to work toward a salary cap of around A$9.2M ($7.3M), although the players' union is "yet to agree to that number and it could yet rise given they have called for long-serving player and car allowances to be excluded from the cap." They have also "objected to the NRL plan" to include a A$400,000 ($317,720) integrity fund in that figure for each club, with the amount "slashed each time a player misbehaves off the field" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 8/4).
The England & Wales Cricket Board confirmed the expansion of the Super League in '18. Presently, six host teams play five group games before Finals Day in the Super League -- the first professional domestic women's cricket tournament in England. After a "successful inaugural season" in '16, teams will play 10 group games in the future (BBC, 8/2).
The Brabham name could be on its way back into Formula 1 after former F1 driver David Brabham said that a "number of different options are being evaluated." Son of three-time F1 world champion Jack Brabham, David owns the trademark for the team name but is "able to issue a license for any party wanting to race under the Brabham banner." It appears as though a "saviour could be on the horizon" in the form of former F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone, who "could be in the market to purchase the Force India team and rebrand it to revive the historic name" (AUTOWEEK, 8/2).
