Football Notes: Scottish Professional Football League Joins Dugout

The Scottish Professional Football League is the first league to join the Dugout platform "in a move it believes will help grow its global reach and strengthen ties with younger audiences." The SPFL joins the platform alongside Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris St. Germain and Liverpool (THE DRUM, 8/2).

A "long-running investigation into a potential fix" in a La Liga game between Real Zaragoza and Levante in April '11 has been shelved "due to a lack of evidence to demonstrate that a crime took place" (ESPN.com, 8/1).

Malyasian state Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar gifted the FA of Malaysia RM4M ($933,380) on Wednesday as a reward for the U22 team's recent success. National youth coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee's team qualified for next year's Asian Football Confederation U23 Championship in China after winning a qualifying tournament in Bangkok in July (NEW STRAITS TIMES, 8/2).
