IAAF World Championships London 2017 Names Right To Play As Charity Partner

London 2017 Ltd. named children’s education charity Right To Play as its charity partner for the IAAF World Championships. The charity uses sport and play to improve the lives of vulnerable children in some of the world’s poorest communities. Right To Play is already a charity partner to British Athletics. The goal is to raise enough money over the course of the championships to reach 100,000 children with Right To Play programs. The IAAF World Championships London 2017 will be held from Friday through Aug. 13, with 2,000 athletes from 200 countries set to compete (IAAF).

REFUGEE SPONSOR: RUNNING COMPETITOR reported Swiss company On Running announced it will sponsor the Athlete Refugee Team. The A.R.T. runners have "fled their home countries because of civil war in South Sudan, Eritrea or Ethiopia and currently train in Kenya." Five members of the team will be competing at the World Championships. On will provide the team with shoes, running gear and financial assistance to "enable them to train as pro athletes." In addition, the company created the “We Are All One” campaign, centered around the mantra of the team. The mantra is meant to "capture the hope and peace that running brings to these athletes" (RUNNING COMPETITOR, 7/31).
