Man City Likely To Head To China In '18 Despite Successful U.S. Tour

Man City is "likely to head to China next summer despite a hugely successful tour" of the U.S. over the past fortnight, according to James Ducker of the London TELEGRAPH. Manager Pep Guardiola has been "very pleased" with how the club's preparations for the new season have gone in the U.S. and, like ManU Manager José Mourinho, "would favour returning to the country next summer if given the choice." But Guardiola recognizes Man City has "strong ties to China" after selling a 13% stake in the club to China Media Capital for £265M in Dec. '15 and needs to "maintain a regular presence in Asia." Mourinho already said that he "will make every effort to persuade" ManU's hierarchy to ensure it returns to the U.S. next summer. Man City Chair Khaldoon al-Mubarak said that the partnership with CMC would "leverage the incredible potential that exists in China" and "would become an increasingly important market for the club" (TELEGRAPH, 7/30).
