League Notes: FIBA Takes Conflict With EuroLeague To Government Level

FIBA "expressed to the governments of seven of the 11 countries that have teams in the EuroLeague its concern" over the open conflict related to the organizations' schedules. FIBA said that on Friday it sent a letter to the national federations of Turkey, Spain, Lithuania, Greece, Italy, Israel and Russia (EFE, 7/17).

The National Rugby League "offered immunity" to Manly Sea Eagles officials in "exchange for information that could be used as evidence against the club in its salary cap investigation." The NRL's integrity unit "approached at least two current Sea Eagles officials suspected of having knowledge" of undeclared player payments, and "encouraged them to come clean." The officials were told they can "take advantage of a moratorium period in which penalties are waived to encourage full disclosure" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 7/18).

Cricket West Indies reached an agreement with its players' union for a "temporary amnesty." The move "paves the way" for Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine and other leading cricketers to return to the national one-day int'l side (REUTERS, 7/18).
