Franchise Notes: AC Milan's Opening Day Season Ticket Sales Up 1,000%

AC Milan reported a tenfold year-on-year increase in the number of season tickets sold on the opening day of sale. Season tickets for the '17-18 campaign went on sale on Monday and "by the close of business," an increase of 1,000% compared to the first day of sales a year ago "was being reported by the club's ticket office." Last season, a total of 16,450 season tickets were sold for the club's home fixtures at the San Siro. The target this year is 30,000 (ESPN.com, 7/18).

Atlético Madrid signed a deal with Catalan company Cellnex Telecom, which will equip the Wanda Metropolitano stadium with "multi-operator mobile broadband coverage." Cellnex said in a statement that the Wanda Metropolitano will be "the first stadium in Spain to offer a real mobile broadband experience" (EFE, 7/17).

Scottish Premiership side Rangers was fined by UEFA after objects were thrown from the Ibrox crowd during the team's Europa League qualifying match against Progres Niederkorn. Rangers must pay €7,000 ($8,090) (BBC, 7/18).

French Pro A basketball side Paris-Levallois, which officially changed its name to “Levallois Metropolitans” earlier this month, unveiled its new logo. The new logo includes the emblem of Parisian suburb Levallois-Perret, a wasp (L’ÉQUIPE, 7/17).
