Football Notes: Premier League Accused Of Threatening To Sue Whistleblower

The Premier League threatened to sue a 13-year-old schoolboy and his parents who "blew the whistle on the Liverpool tapping-up scandal," the family claimed. The EPL "stood accused of issuing a warning that the unnamed boy and his parents would face legal action" if they made defamatory comments in public about its handling of the case. It was "unclear why the Premier League would warn of legal action against the boy or his family given its repeated statements pledging to help find a constructive outcome" in their dispute with Liverpool (London TELEGRAPH, 7/12).

The Ladies Gaelic FA announced the creation of a new position, a scores assistant, who will "use video footage to assess whether a score has taken place at all televised matches." It was also announced that Hawkeye "will be available for use at the Ladies Football finals for the first time." The newly-introduced scores assistant will sit in the TG4 production van at all televised matches (RTÉ, 7/13).
