Event Notes: NBA Africa Game 2017 To Take Place Aug. 5 In Johannesburg

The NBA and its players' association announced the full rosters for the NBA Africa Game 2017, the league's second game in Africa, which will take place on Aug. 5 at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa. The game, taking place after the 15th edition of the Basketball Without Borders Africa, will feature a Team Africa vs. Team World format and will be played in support of UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and SOS Children's Villages South Africa. The game will air live in sub-Saharan Africa on Kwesé's TV, internet and mobile platforms (NBA). 

The organizers of the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England said that the event will feature 16 teams for the first time. The number of venues for '21 will be increased from the initial plan of 12 to 14 (SKY SPORTS, 7/12).

More than 74,000 spectators are expected at the London Stadium for a “record-breaking” opening weekend of the World Para Athletic Championships. This weekend will see the "biggest audience in the event’s 23-year history, with 30,000 people predicted to fill the Stratford venue on Sunday alone." The games kick off on Friday (London EVENING STANDARD, 7/13).
