La Liga side Sevilla VP JOSÉ MARÍA DEL NIDO CARRASCO announced his resignation. Although "the reasons have not been stated, it is believed that the move is related to the club's failure to renew VITOLO, who signed with Atlético Madrid on Wednesday and was loaned to Las Palmas" (AS, 7/12). ... SportBox Entertainment Group announced FIFA registered intermediary & Ōs Group Principal FRANCISCO TERREROS joined the agency and will serve as exec VP. The Colombia native will lead the formation of a global football division, with talent representation and corporate and property marketing strategy as its core services (SportBox). ... The Scottish Professional Football League appointed media exec MURDOCH MACLENNAN as its new chair. The 68-year deputy chair of Telegraph Media Group will replace RALPH TOPPING "when he ends his eight-year stint in the role" on Aug. 1. SPFL CEO NEIL DONCASTER said that MacLennan was the board's unanimous choice for the non-exec role (BBC, 7/11). ... Barcelona named JAMES COSTOS its new strategic adviser in America. Costos, the former U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra, will be involved in three projects, the Barcelona Foundation, the Barça Innovation Hub and the development of the Barcelona brand in the North American market (Barcelona). ... The FA of Malaysia appointed PETER DE ROO as its new technical director in a bid to "restructure the nation's neglected grassroots development." The Dutchman replaces FRITZ SCHMID, who finished his three-year tenure in April. De Roo will report for duty on Sep. 1 (ESPN.com, 7/12). ... Media Group Ukraine appointed SABINA ABLYAEVA head of the department for the development of the company’s sports channels, Futbal 1 and Futbal 2. Ablyaeva was formerly the head of the PR and press department at the Ukraina channel, which MGU also operates (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 7/12).

COACHES/MANAGERS: Argentine first division side Godoy Cruz named MAURICIO LARRIERA its new coach. Larriera replaces LUCAS BERNARDI (LOS ANDES, 7/12). ... Former India cricketer and Team Dir RAVI SHASTRI was appointed head coach of the national side until the 2019 World Cup. ZAHEER KHAN has been named bowling consultant for the same tenure, while RAHUL DRAVID will be India's batting consultant for overseas Test series. The vacancy arose because ANIL KUMBLE resigned after the Champions Trophy in June (ESPN.com, 7/11). ... Welsh Premier League side Aberystwyth Town appointed NEVILLE POWELL manager. The club "needed a new man at the helm" after TONY PENNOCK left to take up a coaching position at League Championship side Hull City (BBC, 7/12). ... The Polish Ice Hockey Federation hired TED NOLAN as head coach of the men's national team. The 59-year-old replaces JACEK PLACHTA, whose contract was not renewed after three years (Int'l Ice Hockey Federation).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown.
