Aston Villa Names Gambling Firm Unibet Principal Partner, Signs John Terry

League Championship side Aston Villa named gambling operator Unibet its new principal partner. Unibet's logo will appear on the front of Aston Villa's new Under Armour kits, which were revealed on Saturday. The deal with Unibet, which is part of the Kindred Group, is for the '17-18 season. In addition to the presence on the front of the men's version of the new-look kit, Unibet will also be on the front of the shirt for Aston Villa Ladies (Aston Villa).

THE DRUM's Gillian West reported the first collaboration between Aston Villa and Unibet sees supporters offered the chance to be "among the first" to play in the new kit in a tournament alongside former Aston Villa players and celebrities at the club's Bodymoor Heath training ground (THE DRUM, 7/1).

CLUB ADDS TERRY: The London TELEGRAPH reported former Chelsea player John Terry signed a one-year contract with Aston Villa on Monday and joined the club for its "promotion campaign." Aston Villa Chair Tony Xia confirmed the signing. Manager Steve Bruce "persuaded the 36-year-old" to move to the club "despite rival overtures from West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City" (TELEGRAPH, 7/3). In Birmingham, Mat Kendrick reported Unibet reacted to Terry's arrival "by offering a series of special JT bets." Unibet offered prices for Terry's first Villa goal, the chances of him scoring against rival Birmingham City and the odds of him finishing the season with five or more Championship goals (BIRMINGHAM MAIL, 7/3).
